I was inspired by the winding streets and branching alleyways of Athens. Walking through the city felt maze-like, and I tried to reinterpret this feeling by creating a labyrinth from the map of the city's streets.
Athenian Maze
This project was to create a detailed maze using a laser cutter on a wood board. I was inspired to create a maze based on the layout of a city map, and after some thought I decided to use the street layout of Athens, Greece. While on a study abroad trip there in 2016, I thought that the narrow and weaving streets of Athens reminded me of a labyrinth, which is how I decided to use this for my inspiration.
